Hurst Speaks at 21st ALM General Counsel Conference
Firm Speakers: James F. Hurst
Marriott Marquis, 1535 Broadway, New York, NY 10036

Winston & Strawn litigation partner James Hurst was among the speakers at the 21st Annual General Counsel Conference held June 9-10, 2009 in New York City. The firm was a sponsor of this two-day conference, which was presented by Corporate Counsel magazine and American Lawyer Media Events.

Mr. Hurst spoke on a panel titled "Intellectual Property and Emerging Regulation," which examined how seasoned in-house and outside counsel manage today's increasingly complex regulation of intellectual property rights in various industries, and how it will likely be impacted by changes signaled to date by the Obama Administration.

Joining Mr. Hurst on this panel were Mark Costello, General Patent Counsel, Xerox Corporation; and Gail Levine, Assistant General Counsel, Verizon Communications, Inc.

Winston also sponsored and participated in a luncheon panel discussion titled "Navigating the Likely Criminal and Civil Fallout from Recent Investment and Securities Fiascoes like the Madoff Affair," which discussed how prosecutors as well as their counterparts in private practice are trying to minimize the damage triggered by the alleged Ponzi schemes associated with such trusted names as Bernard Madoff and Allen Stanford. Winston & Strawn served as the sponsor for this luncheon panel session.
