Winston & Strawn labor and employment relations senior attorney Deborah Jagoda spoke at a New York City bar seminar titled "What Every Employment Lawyer Needs to Know About the NLRA" =on October 6, 2008 in New York City. The seminar was being sponsored by the New York City Bar Association's Labor and Employment Committee.
The National Labor Relations Act is the federal statute that governs labor-management relations in the private sector. This program was designed to give participants a basic understanding of the law under the NLRA, with emphasis on issue that arise outside of the traditional labor-management relations. The discussion examined the following:
- Common NLRA rules affecting individual employees
- Common NLRA issues affecting non-unionized employes
- Fundamentals of practice and procedure in unfair labor practice cases
- Views of experienced practitioners representing employees and employers
- The view from the NLRB
