Winston & Strawn Hosts Private Equity and Hedge Funds Seminar on FAS 157 “Fair Value Measurements”

Winston & Strawn hosted a seminar titled "What Private Equity and Hedge Funds Need to Know About FAS 157 'Fair Value Measurements'" on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 in the firm's New York office. The event was co-hosted by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. 

 

The program focused on the issues that private equity, hedge funds and other organizations face when adopting the new accounting statement FAS 157 on Fair Value Measurements. Topics for discussion included:

 

  • The new concepts covered in FAS 157
  • Important changes from previous guidance
  • Other industry guidance such as the Private Equity Valuation Guidelines issued by the Private Equity Industry Guidelines Group
  • Common approaches and pitfalls to valuing private equity investments

Corporate partner Bob Ericsion served as the seminar moderator, and speakers included Allen Arnett, Principal within Transaction Services at PwC, and Teressa Barner, a Director in the Transaction Services group at PwC.

 

A cocktail reception followed the program.
