Winston & Strawn’s appellate practice was recognized in the “2010 Appellate Hot List,” that was published in the April 7, 2010 issue of the National Law Journal.

The article states, “The appellate and critical motions practice group has attained a position of prominence in high-stakes appellate cases.” The National Law Journal noted in particular three victories during 2009. In a patent litigation matter argued in both the Federal and D.C. Circuits, Winston & Strawn’s team allowed Mayne Pharma and Hospira Inc. to win approval of a $1.8 billion anti-cancer drug. In the 2nd Circuit, Michael Elkin, based in the New York office, obtained a copyright infringement victory on behalf of Launch Media Inc. In the 9th Circuit, James Hurst, based in the firm’s Chicago office, was successful in dismissing an anti-trust class action on behalf of Abbott Laboratories.
