Eric Nelson is a litigation partner in the firm’s New York office who has a diversified corporate and commercial litigation practice.
Prior to the merger of Winston & Strawn and Whitman Breed Abbott & Morgan in September of 2000, Mr. Nelson served as chair of Whitman Breed’s litigation department. He has extensive experience in both federal and state court litigation arising out of corporate acquisitions and dispositions, as well as commercial and securities transactions. He also has represented management in employment litigation for nearly three decades and, more recently, in employee benefits and ERISA matters. Mr. Nelson has successfully defended class actions brought by stockholders, bondholders, and employees. He also has represented estate fiduciaries in will contests and in other litigation in Surrogate’s Court.
Activities
Mr. Nelson serves as a director of community organizations, has served as a trustee of Brooklyn Law School, and is a member of the Federal Bar Council.
Education
Mr. Nelson received an A.B. from Syracuse University in 1969 and a J.D., cum laude, from Brooklyn Law School in 1973.
