Jennifer Maurer is an associate in Winston & Strawn’s litigation department. She concentrates her practice on pharmaceutical products liability litigation, antitrust, and complex commercial disputes, and also has experience in appellate work, pharmaceutical products patent litigation, and white collar criminal defense. She has worked on behalf of clients such as Verizon Wireless, Pfizer, Inc., and Motorola Solutions.
Ms. Maurer has experience in all aspects of litigation in federal court, from the discovery phase through trial and appeal. Ms. Maurer has been and continues to be extensively involved in the representation of a pharmaceutical company in multiple claims of products liability in federal courts across the Midwest. Most recently, she was part of a trial team that obtained a favorable outcome for a pharmaceutical client in a three-week products liability trial, which included assisting in all phases of trial, including preparing witnesses and drafting briefs and motions. Ms. Maurer has also been charged with supervising a number of aspects of discovery in complex antitrust matters for a leading telecommunications company. She has also assisted in drafting briefs for submission to a variety of federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court.
Activities
Ms. Maurer’s pro bono and non-profit work includes assisting to secure asylum for two people fleeing the dictatorship in Belarus.
Ms. Maurer is active in the firm’s mentoring program and Women-2-Women Internal Networking Committee.
Education
Ms. Maurer received a B.F.A., summa cum laude, in Theatre-Acting in 2006 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She received a J.D., magna cum laude, in 2010 from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where she was awarded the Phillip H. Corboy Fellowship for Trial Advocacy. While a member of this nationally competitive trial advocacy team, Ms. Maurer and her teammates were named regional champions and national semi-finalists.
