Marc Trachtenberg is an associate in the firm’s Chicago office who focuses his practice in trademark, copyright, domain name, marketing, advertising, and promotions matters.
Mr. Trachtenberg has extensively represented clients in matters involving digital brands, including domain name, Internet, technology, and privacy issues. In this capacity he has recommended brand-specific strategies to protect trademarks and copyrights, identified threats to clients’ online brand presence, and aggressively enforced these rights on behalf of clients both informally through industry channels and formally via UDRP complaints and cybersquatting litigation. Mr. Trachtenberg has also advised the Chinese government with regard to Internet products and fraudulent domain registrar activity. At his previous firm, Mr. Trachtenberg managed a unique law firm-run domain name registrar, which registered domain names on a worldwide basis and maintained large domain name portfolios for some of the most well-known brands in the world.

Mr. Trachtenberg is a member of the Internet Committee of the International Trademark Association; the Trademark Committee of the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago; the Business Law Section, Cyberspace Committee of the American Bar Association; the Illinois State Bar Association; the Chicago Bar Association; the Chicago Interactive Marketing Association, and is on the Membership Committee of the ICANN Intellectual Property Constituency.
Education
Mr. Trachtenberg received a B.A. in Political Science in 1998 from the University of Michigan and a J.D., magna cum laude, in 2006 from DePaul University College of Law, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif.
