Patrick Michael is a litigation partner in the firm's San Francisco office who focuses on the representation of technology-sector companies in patent infringement and trade secret matters.
Recent cases Mr. Michael has handled include representing a publicly held interactive media company in patent infringement lawsuits venued in California and Texas; representing a major supplier of wafer fabrication equipment in the enforcement of its patent rights; and arbitrating an international trade secret and breach of confidence dispute before the International Centre for Dispute Resolution. He also has significant experience handling other intellectual property, licensing, and unfair competition matters.
Honors and Awards
Mr. Michael received the Pro Bono Advocate Award from Legal Services for Children in 2007.
Activities
Mr. Michael is a member of the California (Business Law and Intellectual Property sections), American, and San Francisco bar associations, as well as the American Intellectual Property Law Association. He is also active in pro bono matters, representing clients seeking political asylum, guardianship, and school discipline matters.
Education
Mr. Michael received a B.A. in Business Economics in 1989 from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He received a J.D., cum laude, in 1993 from Pepperdine University School of Law, where he served as notes and comments editor for the Pepperdine Law Review.
