Mindy Cohn is a senior corporate associate in the firm’s Chicago office concentrating her practice in restructuring and insolvency matters.
Ms. Cohn has represented troubled companies, creditors’ committees, lenders, creditors, receivers, and trustees in work outs and reorganizations throughout the United States.
Her representative engagements include:
- The debtors in the Chapter 11 cases of Ziff Davis Media Inc., Magnatrax Corporation, RoweCom, Inc., Spinnaker Industries, Inc., Nutritional Sourcing Corporation, and DEC International, Inc;
- Official creditors’ committees in the Chapter 11 cases of Sturgis Iron & Metal Co., Arlington Hospitality, Inc., National Energy & Gas Transmission, Inc. and Advanced Lighting, Inc.;
- The agent for the post-petition lenders in the Chapter 11 cases of Orius Corporation and its affiliates;
- The SEC-appointed receiver in the Northshore Asset Management case (an SEC enforcement action against a group of failed hedge funds); and
- A number of aircraft owner participants in several recent airline Chapter 11 cases.
After law school, Ms. Cohn served as a judicial law clerk in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Education
Ms. Cohn received a B.A. in English and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 1997 and a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2000.
Speeches and Publications
Ms. Cohn’s recent publications include “Section 503: Allowance of Administrative Expenses” in the 2007 Annual Survey of Bankruptcy Law and a chapter on “Business Liquidations” in the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education (IICLE) Bankruptcy Practice Handbook. She also is co-author of a chapter in Wiley Bankruptcy Law Update (2001 and 2002 editions) and a chapter in the Norton Annual Survey of Bankruptcy Law (2002 - 2007 editions).
