Adam Hess is a litigation associate in Winston & Strawn’s Washington, D.C. office who concentrates his practice in patent litigation, white-collar criminal litigation, and internal investigation matters.
Mr. Hess has assisted with the firm’s representation of clients in a wide array of criminal and civil matters, including complex patent litigation and the representation of individuals and companies under scrutiny by the Department of Justice and/or the Securities and Exchange Commission. Mr. Hess has been a member of three trial teams for multi-week trials. Mr. Hess also has extensive experience with pro bono work, including serving as a lead attorney in the successful civil representation of a prisoner who was attacked while sleeping in his cell.
Honors and Awards
Mr. Hess was among those recognized by Chief Judge David Sentelle of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit for his commitment to pro bono legal services on behalf of an asylum client in 2009. Mr. Hess was also among the Winston & Strawn attorneys recognized in 2007 for their dedication to the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy project.
Activities
Mr. Hess is a member of the Alpha Kappa Delta International Sociology Honor Society.
Education
Mr. Hess received a B.A. in Sociology, with honors and a concentration in Crime, Law, and Social Control, from Wake Forest University in 2003. Mr. Hess received a J.D. in 2006 from the University of Notre Dame Law School, magna cum laude, where he was also an articles editor for the Notre Dame Law Review.
