Pejman F. Sharifi, Partner

Pejman Sharifi is an intellectual property partner in Winston & Strawn’s New York office who concentrates his practice in transactional, counseling, litigation, and licensing matters.

Mr. Sharifi’s experience includes supporting clients in the development and protection of intellectual property in the fields of electronic, software, and business-methods technology, which includes preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the U.S. and abroad; representing clients in patent infringement suits; managing intellectual property assets; providing invalidity and non-infringement opinions; counseling clients with respect to strategy; evaluating intellectual property assets in the context of litigation, mergers, acquisitions, and investments; assisting start-up enterprises; developing patent application assets for assertion or licensing programs; preparing and negotiating software and patent license agreements; assessing open-source software agreements; and providing due diligence and transaction counsel.

Mr. Sharifi’s technology experience includes telecommunications, cellular telephony, wireless local area networks, digital communications, semiconductor technology, power technology, programmable logic devices, analog devices, medical systems, smart cards, electromechanical devices, and software, including business methods (e.g., insurance, CDOs, promotions, advertising, trading, electronic exchanges, credit transactions, e-commerce), collaboration, Internet-based systems, interactive television program guides, and software development tools.

Mr. Sharifi is the co-author (with Scott H. Blackman) of "Indian Patent Law Reform and Its Impact on Pharmaceutical-Related Outsourcing," which was published in BNA's Patent, Trademark & Copyright Journal, Vol. 71, No. 1748, pp. 173-75 (December 9, 2005).
