Jim Neis served as managing partner of Winston & Strawn LLP from 1993 to 2006. He is a member of the firm’s corporate practice group. He joined the firm in April 1977 and was elected to the partnership in 1980.
Mr. Neis advises a variety of financial, commercial, and manufacturing enterprises in connection with business law matters and mergers and acquisitions.
Activities
Mr. Neis served as managing partner of Winston & Strawn from 1993 to 2006. He is a member of the firm’s Operations Committee and Diversity Committee, Chairperson of its Retirement Plan and Pension Plan committees, and a director of the Winston & Strawn Foundation.
Mr. Neis is also a member of the board of directors of the Lincoln Park Zoological Society and the Attorneys’ Liability Assurance Society, Ltd. (Bermuda). Mr. Neis was a founding director of The Children at the Crossroads Foundation, the supporting organization to Frances Xavier Warde School; he served as a director of the Chicago Central Area Committee, St. Patrick High School, and Steppenwolf Theatre Company. He was an adjunct professor of law at DePaul University Law School, as well as a member of its Dean’s Advisory Council.
Education
Mr. Neis received a B.A. from DePaul University in 1969 and a J.D. from DePaul University College of Law in 1973.
