Larry Desideri serves on the firm's Executive Committee and serves as head of litigation for the firm’s Chicago office. Mr. Desideri concentrates his trial practice on commercial litigation and white-collar criminal defense.

Mr. Desideri has represented a variety of corporations in courts throughout the United States, and is a veteran of litigation matters involving a wide range of issues, including contract disputes, tax protests, civil and criminal antitrust matters, and fraud. He currently represents Abbott Laboratories and PPG Industries in complex commercial litigation matters.

Mr. Desideri’s significant cases and trials include:

  • United States v. General Electric Co. (successful defense of a criminal price-fixing case)
  • In Re American Continental Corporation/Lincoln Savings & Loan Securities Litigation (defense of a four-month securities fraud class action jury trial; the client was dismissed before the verdict)
  • McNulty, et al. v. Illinois State Toll Highway Authority (successful defense of a $200 million class action challenging tolls on Illinois toll highways)
  • Kaplan v. American National Bank (defeated a class certification in a large class action challenge to bank service fees)
  • United States v. National On Leong Chinese Merchants Society  (successful defense of a criminal RICO prosecution after a five-month jury trial)
  • Roadmaster Corp. v. General Electric Co. (defense of large breach of warranty action relating to electric motors)
  • In Re Automotive Refinishing Paint Antitrust Litigation (defense of nationwide class action alleging price fixing)


Honors and Awards

In 2010, Mr. Desideri was named to the BTI Client Service All-Stars, an elite group of attorneys nominated by clients in an objective, independent study as the very best in client service.


Activities

Mr. Desideri is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, Diversity Committee, Compensation Committee, and Litigation Advisory Committee.


Education

Mr. Desideri received a B.S., summa cum laude, from Northern Illinois University in 1980. He received a J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1983, where he was topics editor of the University of Illinois Law Review and was awarded the Rickert Scholarships for Academic Excellence and Excellence in Legal Writing.
