David Galainena concentrates his practice in structured finance, finance company platforms, and debt capital markets.

Mr. Galainena has 29 years of experience handling debt capital markets and structured finance matters in the asset-backed and mortgage-backed markets, as well as the formation and structuring of finance company platforms. Prior to joining Winston & Strawn, Mr. Galainena was a partner in the structured finance department of another major U.S. law firm, and worked for CS First Boston as an investment banker in the mortgage finance area.

Mr. Galainena represents both private and public finance companies, as well as investment banks. Clients include Advance Entertainment LLC, American Capital Strategies, BMO Asset Management, BMO Harris Bank, Chicago Asset Funding LLC, Citigroup Capital Markets, Crown Mac LLC, GE Antares, Golden Funding LLC, Harley-Davidson Financial Services, Inc., Heller Financial, Inc. (a GE Company), Hercules Technology, Inc., Monroe Capital, NewStar Financial, Norwest Equity Partners, Perella Weinberg Partners, System Capital LLC, Textron Financial, and THL Credit.

His work on behalf of such clients has earned him a position on the list of the world’s leading structured finance lawyers compiled and published by the Euromoney, Chambers Global, and Chambers USA Leading Lawyers for Business directories, Who’s Who in American Law – Capital Markets, Practical Law – Multi-Jurisdictional Guide – Capital Markets, and the U.S. Legal 500.


Activities

Mr. Galainena is a member of the firm’s Corporate Opinion Committee and Diversity Committee Advisory Group, and has been a member of the firm’s Executive Committee for nine years.


Education

Mr. Galainena received a B.A., magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Tulane University in 1980, and a J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 1983.
