Jonathan Goldstein is a member of the firm’s corporate practice group in the New York office. He concentrates his practice in mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, securities offerings, and securities law compliance.

Mr. Goldstein represents Luxottica Group S.p.A., an Italian corporation and the world’s largest manufacturer and distributor of eyeglass frames. He led the Winston & Strawn teams in connection with Luxottica’s acquisitions of The United States Shoe Corporation (including its LensCrafters retail optical chain), the Ray-Ban sunglasses business from Bausch & Lomb, the Sunglass Hut retail chain, Cole National Corporation, the owner of the Pearle Vision and Sears Optical retail chains, and Oakley, Inc., the sports-oriented sunglass company.

Mr. Goldstein also represents Retail Brand Alliance, Inc., the owner of Brooks Brothers, Inc. and related businesses. In addition, Mr. Goldstein represented SFX Entertainment, Inc., the largest U.S. live entertainment company, in acquisitions and securities offerings, and in its sale to Clear Channel Communications, Inc.


Honors and Awards

Mr. Goldstein was recognized as a New York Super Lawyer each year from 2006 through 2009. He was also named in The Legal 500 in 2009 as a top attorney for Mergers, Acquisitions, and Buyouts.


Activities

Mr. Goldstein served both as managing partner of Winston & Strawn’s New York office and as a member of its Executive Committee from 2004 to 2009. He also serves as pro bono counsel to the Caribbean Women’s Health Association, Inc. through the Lawyers Alliance of New York. In addition, Mr. Goldstein is a member of the Lawyers Committee of The New York Public Library.


Education

Mr. Goldstein received a B.A., magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Yale University in 1965.  He received an LL.B. from Harvard Law School in 1968.
