May Wall is a partner in the firm’s environmental law department. She works extensively in identifying, quantifying, and allocating environmental risks in connection with corporate, energy, and real estate transactions. She provides regulatory, enforcement, and compliance counsel to industrial clients, and she works with developers on siting, permitting, and Brownfield cleanup projects.

In the transactional area, Ms. Wall represents equity investment groups and strategic buyers, as well as sellers and lenders. Representative transactions include acquisitions and divestitures of companies in the coal, aerospace, chemical, paper, food, publishing, and power production and transmission industries. Ms. Wall also works extensively with the firm’s real estate finance and renewable energy project development clients, including on-shore and off-shore wind projects.

Additionally, Ms. Wall advises clients regarding environmental disclosure obligations in SEC filings, especially as to climate change implications, and she assists clients with strategic planning for compliance and environmental enforcement matters. Her work with developers has included, for example, advising a NFL team on environmental matters connected with siting a new stadium in Maryland; advising a client on a significant Brownfield cleanup and development in Northern Virginia; and advising clients on mixed-use smart growth developments in Northern Virginia and Maryland.

Prior to and during law school, Ms. Wall served as a legislative aide to U.S. Sen. Charles “Mac” Mathias and as a policy analyst for an environmental consulting firm.
