Jim Schwarz is the regional director of administration for the firm’s California offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco. He is responsible for the management of each office’s administrative functions, including human resources, facilities and operations, information technology, secretarial and paralegal services, library services, and accounting and finance. Mr. Schwarz works closely with the Los Angeles and San Francisco office managing partners, the firm’s chief administrative officer, and directors in other Winston offices on local, regional, and firm-wide strategic initiatives.
Mr. Schwarz has worked in the legal industry for nearly 25 years in a number of capacities. In addition to managing Winston’s Los Angeles and San Francisco offices, he was the Northern California regional director of administration for another national law firm. He also served as the director of administration for the Washington, D.C. office of a prominent international law firm, where he also served as client services and marketing manager, legal assistant manager, and government relations adviser.
Activities
Mr. Schwarz is a member of the Association of Legal Administrators and was the Web site coordinator for the ALA’s Capital Chapter. He is a former member of the Legal Marketing Association and served on the board of directors of the LMA’s MidAtlantic Chapter.
Education
Mr. Schwarz received a B. A. in Journalism from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis in 1985 and an M.A. in Business and Legal Administration from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia, in 2005.
