| We represented Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. in a contract dispute with one of its recycled paper suppliers. At issue was Smurfit-Stone''s right to deduct sales rebates from its monthly payments under the contract and whether Smurfit-Stone was entitled to assurance of the supplier''s ability to pay a credit of $19 million that Smurfit-Stone had accrued over the life of the contract. On the eve of the arbitration, the case settled very favorably for our client. |
