Winston & Strawn IP Group Recognized in 2013 “IAM Patent 1000” Ratings
June 4, 2013
Intellectual Asset Management Magazine, an internationally reported and distributed publication in the intellectual property field, published its second annual worldwide Patent 1000 ratings. Winston & Strawn and a number of its attorneys were honored in the feature, which identifies the world's leading patent practitioners.
On a firm-wide level, Winston & Strawn was one of only 19 patent litigation practices recommended nationally in the U.S., with the firm's Illinois, Texas, California, and New York offices receiving rankings. The directory positively noted the breadth of the firm's patent capabilities, with one client saying: "It draws on its talent in the best way, bringing together personnel from multiple offices to create the right team for us."
In the Chicago office, partner and IP chair George Lombardi also received a gold rating and was noted as "truly gifted" and "one of the finest trial lawyers anywhere in the world." Firm chairman and "celebrated litigator" Dan Webb was also honored, receiving a silver rating.
Winston & Strawn's Houston team was praised for its solid trial skills. "They more than meet expectations, being extremely well prepared and always bringing creative ideas to the table. When you need to hire the best, they are certainly an option."
Partner David Enzminger in the Los Angeles office received a bronze rating and praise for his successful handling of high-technology patent cases, earning distinction in the courts. "With solid support from the prosecution group, its litigators have a sophisticated grasp of the technologies involved and can analyze patent file histories in order to position cases to win at trial."
The New York office was ranked for the first time this year, noting that "an influx of talent in 2011 and 2012" brings "its capabilities into line with the Chicago and Houston offices, both of which are respected nationally for their bench depth." Partner Michael Elkin received a bronze rating for litigation.
