Winston Hosts the China Anti-Unfair Competition Law Event
October 19, 2016
Winston & Strawn hosted European Chamber’s The Proposed Amendments to the China Anti-Unfair Competition Law at the firm’s Shanghai office on October 19.
In recent years, Chinese authorities have increased their enforcement of the Anti-Monopoly Law (AML) and the Anti-Unfair Competition Law (AUCL), resulting in extremely large fines for companies and, often, changes to long-standing business models. In this context of aggressive law enforcement, it is critical for multinational companies to closely monitor enforcement activities and be prepared for changes to the enforcement agencies' guidelines on the application of the Anti-Monopoly Law.
This event addressed important proposed changes to the China's antitrust laws governing protections for trademarks and trade secrets, as well as revisions that would alter the treatment of various common business practices.
