Linda Coberly Named to Chicago Business Journal’s 2017 Women of Influence
February 6, 2017
Chicago Managing Partner and Appellate & Critical Motions Practice Chair Linda Coberly has been named to Chicago Business Journal’s 2017 Women of Influence. The annual list recognizes women who have made an impact both professionally and in the Chicago community. The list also highlights mentoring, nonprofit organizations, and charitable endeavors.
Ms. Coberly is a resolute advocate for—and inspiring example of—women leaders in the legal profession. As the first female Managing Partner of Winston’s Chicago office—the firm’s oldest and largest—Ms. Coberly is a compelling example of the changing ranks in law firm leadership.
Ms. Coberly has worked hard to mentor women lawyers at the firm by participating in the formal mentoring program for first-year associates, as well as informally mentoring senior associates and income partners.
In addition, Ms. Coberly is actively involved in the firm’s Diversity Committee and Women’s Leadership Initiative, which is dedicated to the strategic retention and advancement of women attorneys at the firm.
Ms. Coberly was also an integral member of the team responsible for designing and implementing a gender-neutral parental leave program at the firm. Launched in May 2016, the policy addresses elements vital to the advancement of women in the legal industry and prompted headlines throughout national business and legal publications.
The Chicago Business Journal highlighted the 2017 Women of Influence nominees in a special profile on March 15.
