Jonathan Amoona Named to Forbes’ 2014 “30 Under 30: The Best in Sports”
January 6, 2014
Winston & Strawn associate Jonathan Amoona, based in the firm’s New York office, was selected by Forbes Magazine to its “30 Under 30” list; this third annual list is a tally of the “brightest stars” across 15 different fields under the age of 30. Mr. Amoona was included in the sports industry category and recognized by the publication for being at the forefront of some of the biggest sports legal battles in recent years. He was a core member of a trial team that succeeded in overturning NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's punishments of four New Orleans Saints players in the so-called “Bountygate” scandal and he argued against the NFL and NBA in litigation that challenged the legality of those league's recent lockouts, helping to spearhead settlements.
Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova topped this list year’s list, which also included NBA stars LeBron James and Kevin Durant, as well as Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn.
In December 2014, Mr. Amoona was featured in the Forbes Magazine article "30 Under 30: Corporate Climbers." Forbes recognized Mr. Amoona as “one of sports law’s rising litigators,” citing his work on the Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson matters.
