Joan Fife Speaks at NAWL’s Pipeline to Equity Partnership Program
June 3, 2015
Winston & Strawn partner Joan Fife spoke at the National Association of Women Lawyers’ (NAWL) Pipeline to Equity Partnership (P2P) on June 3 at UC Hastings in San Francisco.
NAWL’s P2P program was specifically designed for women lawyers on the path – as well as those who want to be on the path – to equity partnership at their respective law firms. The program combined hands-on learning with insights and guidance from distinguished panel members on the new skills, strategies, and priorities that women lawyers need to develop to become business owners.
Ms. Fife participated in a roundtable discussion focusing on the issues and impediments encountered by women lawyers as they strive for equity partnership. Situations discussed included gender bias, recognition of contribution to firm leadership, origination, risk of internal politics, and effective and ethical client management. The conversation set the stage for participants to learn how to align their skills to their particular firm's strategy, culture, and position in the marketplace.
Ms. Fife is managing partner of Winston’s San Francisco office and the head of the firm’s San Francisco labor and employment group. She represents employers throughout the country in class action employment litigation.
