Winston & Strawn Co-chairman Jeffrey Kessler was recognized in Forbes’ “The Most Powerful People in College Sports” published on December 7, 2015. Mr. Kessler, who co-chairs Winston’s Sports Law Practice, ranks 18th on the list.
“A celebrated sports lawyer, Kessler is considered by many as the most disruptive man in college sports,” the article states. “He recently filed an anti-trust lawsuit against the NCAA that could forever change college athletics as we know it if he proves victorious.”
The lawsuit the article refers to, Jenkins v. NCAA, was filed in March of 2014 against the NCAA and its five power conferences. Mr. Kessler serves as lead attorney in the suit, which seeks to strike down unlawful compensation restraints imposed by the NCAA for major college sports programs in Division I men’s basketball and football.
