Winston & Strawn and Environmental Law Institute (ELI) co-hosted a seminar in Winston's New York office and via teleconference on "Hydraulic Fracturing Risks and Opportunities" on April 18, 2012. The program focused on both the environmental risks and the energy opportunities that result from the use of this technique to extract oil and gas. The discussion focused on the diverse perspectives and responses from the government, public interest, industry, and investment sectors to these risks and opportunities. Panelists included: John Imse, principal, ENVIRON; Larry Wilkinson, director, Corporate and Government Ratings, Standard & Poor's; Carol R. Collier, executive director, Delaware River Basin Commission and committee leader, Association of Clean Water Administrators; and Kate Sinding, senior attorney, Natural Resources Defense Council; and other guests. The panel was moderated by May Wall, a partner based in Winston & Strawn's Washington, D.C. office.
