Governor Thompson Will Head Jobs for Youth Fundraising Campaign

Winston & Strawn senior chairman Governor James Thompson has agreed to lead a fundraising campaign for the Jobs for Youth Legal Industry Council. Shortly after leaving his role as Acting Director for the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority, the former Illinois Governor announced plans to lead a fundraising campaign with Jobs for Youth, a non-profit whose mission is to help low-income men and women become part of the economic mainstream.
During the next seven months, Mr. Thompson will solicit donors to raise funds to support the programs and services of Jobs for Youth. In a press release announcing the campaign, Mr. Thompson explained that "the vital programs Jobs For Youth is providing to the underserved young adults of Chicago are not only leading the way for opportunities for these motivated youth, but also driving economic growth and stability in our most challenged neighborhoods." Governor Thompson was also selected as the 2012 Chicago Business Legacy Award Honoree by the Jobs For Youth Legal Industry Council.
Jobs for Youth/Chicago was created in 1979 and is currently the city's largest non-profit organization devoted exclusively to helping young people find employment and assisting companies meet their hiring needs.
