Charlie Papavizas Discusses Jones Act Implications & Environmental Requirements at OSV Conference

Charlie Papavizas, chair of Winston & Strawn’s maritime & admiralty practice, spoke at the 4th Offshore Support Vessel Conference on October 20, 2014 in Oslo. The purpose of this year’s conference was to identify regional market opportunities and improve OSV performance and capabilities.
Mr. Papavizas spoke on the panel titled “The When, Where, and How of offshore oil and gas hot-prospect areas.” This session was part of the Regional Hot-Spots and Market Opportunities track. Mr. Papavizas specifically addressed “North America: What are the implications of the post-Macondo revival?” which encompassed the Jones Act implications and environmental requirements. This session also included:
- The North Sea: Still a positive outlook?
- The Arctic: What is necessary for development?
- Russia: What is the scope for future business?
- East and West Africa: What challenges and opportunities await?
